The Texas Department of Family & Protective Services, (TDFPS), is the agency that licenses and makes certain Laurel Heights Weekday School remains in compliance with the Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers. A copy of the Minimum Standards is available for review in the school office. You may also view the Minimum Standards online on the TDFPS website: http://www.dfps.state.tx.us.

All administrators and educators employed by LHWS are mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect. Each employee completes annual required training on How to Recognize and Report the Suspected Abuse and Neglect of a Child.

As stated on the TDFPS website, under Texas Childcare Licensing (CLL):
Child Care Licensing responsibilities include:

  • Establishes and monitors operations and agencies for compliance with licensing standards, rules, and law.

  • Informs parents and the public about child care and about the histories of specific homes, child-care operations, and child-placing agencies in complying with minimum standards of care.

  • Provides technical assistance to providers on meeting licensing standards, rules, and law.
